From the age of five, Brian Johnson was destined to paint and draw. His earliest encouragement came from his elementary school teachers and his principal. Johnson's talents in later years blossomed under the guidance of his teacher and mentor Harold Stevenson of the renowned Steven Academy of Arts in Sea Cliff, New York. Johnson also received an Associates Degree in Advertising Art and Design from S.U.N.Y. Farmingdale.
His work includes illustrations for sports Impressions and ENESCO in oil and acrylic for the NBA, NFL, MLB. Many of these works have been reproduced in plates, lithographs and other collectibles.
Johnson, a very versatile artist, has shown his diversity in the work he has done for Interplanetary Travel (NASA), the Paris Air Show and illustrations of A/X Proposal for the US Navy. In addition, his works include original romance book covers and package design for Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Company.
Among his numerous awards was a Gold Medal for graphic illustrations at the Hudson Valley Art Show. He was selected to do an original portrait of George Skurla, former President of Grumman Aerospace. It was presented to him aboard the Intrepid Aircraft Museum at his retirement celebration in New York.
