Born and raised in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was in his early years that his interests in wildlife and wildlife art were sparked. In 1982, Guy had the opportunity to emmigrate to Canada. This experience led to a number of different occupations that helped build the foundation of his art career. In 1991, Guy had the opportunity to work with master sculptor William Davis. Bill Davis lives in Wapiti, Wyoming, and invited Guy to work with him. Bill helped give Guy a thorough understanding of the Bronze process as well as influencing the detailed style of sculpting found in all Guy's works. Guy is proud and grateful for Bill's support and guidance.
Having worked in many different mediums, Guy finds bronze sculpting the most satifying. Capturing the movement and textures of his many different subjects is a constant challenge. Great thought and knowledge goes into showing each element of his wildlife sculptures in a unique, appealing and realistic format with artistic elan.
While living in Western and Northwestern Canada, Guy has had the opportunity to view many species of wildlife in their natural environment. It is these experiences that have proven to be the greatest asset in realitically portraying his subjects in their natural form.
Guy has been a full time artist since 1993. He has owned 2 cattle ranches, one in Central British Columbia, and currently one in Southwestern Alberta, near Pincher Creek. Having raised Corriente Cattle (a breed commonly used in rodeos)as well as numerous breeds of horses, Guy has a thorough understanding of the ranching way of life. You will find Guy's sculptures in collections all over North America, Europe, Japan, China and New Zealand. |
