Mary-Linn Benning has had a life long passion for animals which is evident in her paintings and sculptures. She has become a master of mixed media painting, using various techniques and a unique style to show the viewer her favorite animals as she sees them. Mary-Linn has been a professional artist most of her life. She received her B. F. A. degree from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. She has raised two children who have also chosen creative careers, and has two grandchildren who love to "art." Mary-Linn has traveled the world to view wild animals in their natural habitat. She found great inspiration for her wildlife portraits after a trip to Tanzania, Africa. She ventured to the arctic climate of Manitoba, Canada, staying for a month in the frontier town with polar bears and other arctic creatures. Mary-Linn has taken trips to Wyoming and Montana where she photographed and gathered reference material of elk, fox, wolves, prong horn, and mountain goats. She was especially amazed and amused by the moose. After a move to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2004 she is now even closer to the animals she adores. Mary-Linn has had great success in the San Francisco Bay area. Her work can be found in collections across the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Canada. Mary-Linn specializes in original wildlife paintings. She also offers limited edition lithographs and giclees and loves doing commission in painting and bronze sculpture.
