I was born in Flint, Michigan in 1943. I was always shy and after the sudden death of my mother and within a year the death of my brother I was lost. My father hired a woman to be our cook and she ended up being my guardian angel. Her name was Susan. She took me to the woods and let me be with nature and animals and that was the beginning of my passion. My family for generations has been interested in the arts. My grandmother's home was filled with whimsy and amazing paintings and sculptures. I think that the coming together of those two things began my love of art. I earned my BFA degree from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California. I have two grown married children living in Colorado who have chosen creative careers and four grandchildren who also love to create. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world to view animals in their natural habitat. I found great inspiration after spending a month of photographing in Tanzania, Africa. A few years later I took a trip up the Hudson Bay where I spent a month in the town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada. I photographed and observed the polar bears and other Arctic animals of the tundra during the day and painted during the night. I have sold my work around the world. Every day I am amazed by the majesty of Colorado and am overwhelmed by the beauty of the mountains, clouds, rocks, trees and especially the variety of wildlife. I paint in Acrylic, Oil, Watercolor and Pastel. I also love hand building with clay.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit some of my work.
